CHERRY 0900 AGRICULTURE
This cherry, which is the most suitable type for export, is known for its durability. A large proportion of the exports from Turkey as 90% are met with this cherry type.
This type of cherry, known as the Turkish Cherries in Europe, has a large, long stem, fruit coat is red, fruit flesh is light red, it is hard, crispy and juicy. Depending on the altitude, it ripens in June – July – August.
This type which is big and in the shape of heart is very fruitful. Fruit flesh is very hard, textured, dark red and pink striped.
The fruit coat is dark red. It is a light flavoured having a good balance of sugar and acid.
This type which is very fruitful is very large, long-stemmed, dark bright red and heart-shaped.
Fruit flesh is red, hard, juicy, fine textured and very flashy. It is harvested at the end of June and the first week of July.
PEACH EARLY RED
This is the type that is harvested early. The fruit has the medium size and it is about 125 gr. It is flat-shaped, slightly sour and less juicy.
Fruit flesh is yellow, has flesh structure and the seed is attached to the flesh. The fruit coat is partial red on the yellow ground. It is harvested in mid-June.
This is a mid-season type grown in the Mediterranean and Aegean regions in Turkey.
The fruit has 175 gr. average size. It is flat-shaped, sweet and reasonably-juicy. Fruit flesh is yellow, with little fiber and the seed is attached to the flesh.
The fruit coat is a mixed red on a dark yellow ground. It is among the most preferred products according to the period.
PEACH CREST HAVEN
This is the type that is grown in Aegean and Marmara Region and whose harvest is carried out late. The fruit is large and round in shape, sweet and very juicy. Fruit flesh is yellow. The seed is separate from the flesh, it has a fibrous structure.
The fruit coat is dark red on the yellow ground. This is a very high quality type that ripens for harvest in the middle of August.
The fruits of this type are oval shaped, 75 – 100 gr. They are red on orange ground.
The flavor features are at the top level and the fruit flesh is hard and resistant to cracking. It is offered to the market in April – May. It is an apricot type that is worth exporting.
This apricot which is a middle season product is a table type. Fruits are round shaped; weigh 35 – 50 gr. and they are yellow. Fruit flesh has medium hardness and it is juicy and fragrant.
The demand is very high and it is a highly preferred type for export because it can stand the long way. It is harvested in months May -June.
It is one of the earliest harvested apricot types. This type which is averagely 41 gr is in the shape of triangle.
The fruit coat is usually red, the fruit flesh is hard and light orange. It is a type which is less juicy, less aromatic having a bitter seed. It is a product that is worth exporting as it is a preferred and good quality type. It is offered to the market in months May and June.
The fruits are oval-shaped, the stripe in the middle is distinctive, and they are purple and spotted. Fruit flesh is yellow and durable.
The fruit flesh is easily separated from the seed. Fruits have average 50 mm width, 40 mm length and 75 gr. weight. They can be stored in cold storage facilities until February – March.
PLUM BLACK DIAMOND
The fruit is medium in size, lightly flat and the upper side of the coat is smoky. Fruit coat is a mixture of pink, purple and black tones and is yellow spotted.
It is red, hard and reasonably juicy. Fruits are 50 mm in width and 40 mm in length and 70 gr. weight. It is harvested as of the first week of August.
PLUM BLACK AMBER JAPON
The fruits are medium in size, slightly flat round and smoky. The fruit coat is blackish and there are spots on them. Fruit flesh is yellow, hard and reasonably juicy.
They have a pleasant smell and the seed is attached to the flesh. In the Mediterranean Region, harvesting continues from the third week of June until the end of July.
PLUM BLACK SPLENDOR JAPON
Fruits are large, round and smoky. The fruit coat is purplish black.
Fruit flesh is dark red, hard, juicy and delicious. It is harvested in the Mediterranean region in the second week of June. It is a type that is durable against manual operation and road.
It is mostly grown in the Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Sea Regions in our country.
Eşme Quince: This is the type which is grown most in our country. The fruit is round, slightly longer towards the stem, quite juicy and its taste is sourish.
Bread Quince: Fruits are large, the stem is slightly narrow, the middle part is wide, having little pubescent, the fruit flesh is crispy, juicy and its taste is sourish.
Lemon Quince: The market value is high; fruit is in the shape of sphere, long towards the stem part. The fruit coat is lemon yellow, the fruit flesh is yellowish, hard, and juicy and its taste is sourish.
The apple, heavily produced in Niğde, Isparta and Karaman that are among the beautiful cities of our country, is offered to the market during the harvest and also stored in cold storage rooms for different periods.
The most common types in our country are: Golden and Starking Red Delicious particularly, as well as Grany Smith, Gala and Fuji types.
FIG (BURSA BLACK)
Known as Bursa Black, it is the most preferred product in Europe and other foreign markets with its unique hard fruit structure, size and long shelf life. It is also known as the best quality black fig of the world.
Product safety is also very high because it does not require the use of pesticides in cultivation when compared to other types. Fruits are large, round; the fruit coat is dark purple – purplish black. As the fruit flesh is plump and the coat structure is very durable, it is the best type that is durable to road.
FIG (YELLOW LOP)
It is grown between Büyük Menderes (Greater Maeander) and Küçük Menderes (Little Maeander) Basins situated mostly in the Aegean Region in Turkey. The average weight of yellow fig is about 60 gr. and it is flat and yellow, as well as an easy-peeled fruit.
This fruit, which has pleasant smell, is among the most exported fruits after Bursa Black.
This is mainly grown in İzmir region, particularly in Denizli and Aydın in Turkey.
Razaki Grape begins to ripen at the end of August. A bunch of grapes weighs average 400-500 gr. and it is coarse grained and scarce. This grape, which is seeded, contains 2-3 seeds per grape.
GRAPE YALOVA PEARL
This type is grown in Aegean, Mediterranean and Southeast Anatolia regions in Turkey. It ripens in July. Bunches of grapes are medium in size (400 – 550gr.), normally scarce, branched and in the shape of conical.
Grains of these grape types are green and yellow with 5gr. weight and in the shape of oval.
GRAPE THRACE İLKEREN
This type is grown in the Central Anatolia, the Mediterranean, the Aegean and the Southeastern Anatolia Region in Turkey.
Due to the strong connection of the stem of the grains during the collection, this product type is durable and shelf life is long. Therefore it is suitable for export. The bunches of grapes are very large, plump (600 – 650gr.), and dense.
The grains of the grapes are purple, round and very large (4-5gr.). It contains 2-3 seeds per grain.
This type is grown in the Mediterranean, Aegean and Marmara regions in our country. It ripens in the middle of July. The bunches are big, average 500 – 650 gr.
It is in the shape of cylindrical and scarcely grained. The grains are red and purple, very large and round in shape. The coat is medium in thickness. There are 2-4 seeds per grain.
GRAPE RED GLOBE
Red Globe which is a type ripening late and is an important type for export of Turkey ripens completely in September – October.
The bunches of this type are large (average 1000 gr.) The grains are red, similar to purple, very large (12-14 gr.) round shaped and densely plump. It contains 3-4 seeds per grain.
GRAPE SUPERIOR SEEDLESS
This type is grown in the Aegean, Mediterranean and Southeastern Anatolia Region in Turkey. This is the type that ripens early. It ripens at the end of July.
The bunches are very large (750 gr.) dense or frequent structured. The grains are large (5gr.) and it is green – yellow, short and oval shaped and seedless grape type.
GRAPE SULTAN SEEDLESS
Sultan seedless grapes constitute a large portion of 98 % of exports as table grapes.
These grape bunches are medium in size (450-500 gr.) with normal density. Grape grains are small, a mixture of green and yellow. The coats are very thin and seedless. Dried grape is a very good and preferred type.
This is a type which is registered through Antalya the Western Mediterranean Audit Institute. It is the most preferred type of pomegranate in domestic and foreign market.
It meets the majority of the pomegranate exports of Turkey. It is an important motive to prefer because it can be stored for up to 6 months when appropriate conditions are provided. The coat color is red; the grain color is dark red.
Its taste is sourish and it has grains that are hard seeded. The diameter of the fruit is 65 – 95 mm, the fruit weight is 150 – 400 gr.
This pomegranate type which ripens early has a dark red coat and red grains. The pomegranate is neither medium nor large (mid of them) in size and is a suitable type for husking.
Its taste is sourish and it has a sweet flavour. As its shelf life is long and it is quite suitable for storage, it is the most popular type in the world.
It is among the types demanded especially for European market.
SEEDLESS POMEGRANATE (CANER)
This pomegranate type that has been introduced to our country by Dr. Caner Onur is known as seedless pomegranate in our country.
The seedless pomegranate which has suitable structure for storing is large in size and heavy. Coat color is dark red; grain color is claret red and dark red. It has begun to be exported in recent years as its coat color and size are satisfactory.
Although the date when this product was brought to Turkey is unknown, kaki persimmon has been grown in our country for a long time. Kaki persimmon which is a fruit of subtropical climate is grown mostly in the Mediterranean Region in Turkey. As this type of tree loses its leaves in winter, it can be grown in cooler places especially in the Black Sea, Aegean and Marmara regions.
PEAR SANTA MARIA
Pears are grown in almost every province and in each of our regions in Turkey. The Aegean Region takes place on the top in terms of tree number; after the Aegean Region, the Marmara Region is the second one. Marmara Region is the first and Aegean Region is the second in terms of fruit yield. Among the cities of our country, Bursa is in first place in pear production and Ankara in second place. Worldwide, our country takes place on the top among the countries that produce pears.
The main species grown in Turkey Topater that, Hasanbey, Van melon, Altınbaş Kizilirmak, Ankara melon, kırkağaç (Manisa) as well as local types such as melon many domestic and foreign varieties are also used.
The most popular ones are Diyarbakır – Van – Ankara – Manisa – Balikesir and Konya.
